20:00 | SCREENING / QUIRINO CRISTIANI: THE MYSTERY OF THE FIRST ANIMATED MOVIES
On the 9th of November 1917, the first full length animated film was released in the cinemas of Argentina. It was made by the Italian animator Quirino Cristiani and it bared the title “El Apostol”. The man and his work remained practically unknown for many years. Film historian and specialist in the history of animation Giannalberto Bendazzi shed light on his story with his book “The Man who Foreran Disney”. Based on this book, Italian animator Gabriele Zucchelli, directs the film “Quirino Cristiani / The mystery of the first animated movies” presenting the life of this great pioneer and making him known to the public.
Honoring the 100-year anniversary of the release of the first full-length animated film in history, the Animattikon Project organizes a screening of Zucchelli’s film at Ananas 8bit Coffee. The film was generously offered by Gabriele Zucchelli himself and his company The Caravel Animation
