“Ten Points of Vision” were installed at Aphrodite’s Rock
Sunday, July 30th 2017 saw the inauguration of Costas Tsoclis visual installation, under the architectural curation of Giorgos Triantafyllou at Aphrodite’s Rock (Petra tou Romiou).
The Chairman of the Organisation Pafos2017, Dr Christos Patsalides, its Artistic Director, Georgia Doetzer, as well as other members of the Board, attended the opening event on behalf of the Organisation. The sculptor Costas Tsoclis, the architect Giorgos Triantafyllou and the sculptor Dimitris Skalkotos attended the event on behalf of the installation’s contributors. The Director of the Costas Tsoclis Museum in Tinos, Chrysanthi Koutsouraki also attended the event on behalf of the Museum, while journalists from both Cyprus and Greece, and numerous visitors, among others, were also present.
The President of the Organisation welcomed the attendees and highlighted the fact that Aphrodite’s Rock is a “unique space, a location which gathers the history of our country, but, also, of its beauty.” He, then, addressed the creators of the installation, Costas Tsoclis and Giorgos Triantafyllou, thanking them for their contribution, as well as Costas Serezis and Andreas Charalambides who made the proposal for this installation. He, also, noted that, this project, gives the European Capital of Culture the opportunity to continue existing in the future, by leaving a lasting legacy which will remind us of the importance of the year 2017 to Pafos, its people and the arts.
The Kouklia Community president, Michalis Nicolaou also addressed the attendees, expressing his content and joy that Kouklia Municipality has the honour to host such an important work as part of the European Capital of Culture institution.
The architect and one of the creators of the installation, Giorgos Triantafyllou, talked about the life and work of Costas Tsoclis as well as their collaboration which led to the the project “Ten Points of Vision”.
The world-renowned artist Costas Tsoclis, in an evidently emotional tone, handed his work to the European Capital of Culture Pafos2017, stating that “the sculptural elements which were installed in this natural landscape will now gain added value from the landscape itself, as well as its colours and beauty”.
A very special moment of the opening event was the sunset lighting up the installations which reflected its colours, just like the artist had envisioned.
